here i have started to build the gable of the house

Gable

here i have built a few courses of the gable end, i am laying to the line

tapping the brick

here i am tapping the back of the brick to make sure it is down to the line

Here i am laying to the line, the line is on a profile one end of the wall and on a corner block at the other end of the wall, the line must be tight as if it is too slack the wall will not be level

Insulation

here i am putting on the insulation, this is to stop damp

Fire Socks in cavity

These are the fire socks going all around the gable to stop a fire from going up the cavity

Here i am putting the fire socks into the cavity, this is to stop a fire from going up the cavity.

Brushing the wall

Here i am giving the wall a brush over with a smooth brush, this gives a nicer finish

Cleaning Trowel

Here i am cleaning my trowel with a wire brush, you must clean your trowel at the end of the day as the cement will dry and the next day it will be quite hard to remove

Carrying Bricks

Here i am carrying the bricks ready to get the job started

Jointing the wall

Here i am jointing the wall, every wall must be jointed as it gives a nice smooth finish, i am using a jointer and a pointing trowel
