Sill Soldier Course

This a soldier course using sill brick, they are 3 quarter bricks and are a few mm smaller than a full brick

This is a Dental course, the alternate halfs are sticking in by 15mm

Here i am putting on the insulation, this is to stop damp

Beamfilling

Here i am doing the beam filling, i am putting in 2 courses of concrete bricks, this is to stop the joists from twisting.

1 brick pillar


This is a 1 brick pillar in a garage, there are wall ties every 3 courses to bond it to the wall.

This is a return block wall, there are 2 door openings, this also goes up another 3 courses ready for the joists

This is an internal concrete wall, it is 7 courses high but will eventually go up another 3 courses before the joists go on and the first floor is made by the carpenter

This is a soldier course, the window size is 1200mm so 16 soldiers will fit to gauge with 10mm perps

bsck of pillar



This is the back of my pillar the wall ties are positioned every course on window reveals, they are spaced out 450mm, wall ties fit in the bed of the brickwork and they are to strengthen and support the building/structure. also the insulation fits in between the ties on the back of the thermolite blocks

This is a pillar i built using thermolite blocks, it is built in between two window frames, the two planks are to stop the pillar blowing down in heavy wind and rain.

Soldier course


This is a soldier course, it sits on a lintel, there are two weep vents, one in the first perp and one in the last perp, these are used just incase water goes down the cavity.
